What’s the Big Idea?

What's The Big IdeaThe California Press Foundation commissioned the collection and compilation of this report as a way to provide a convenient overview of organizations that offer strategic guidance regarding the fiscal support and furtherance of locally reported and published news.

Cal Press staff engaged Kellen Browning, a student at Pitzer College in Claremont, as the 2017 Cal Press Fellow. Browning, a Davis High School alumnus, was named the National High School Journalist of the Year by the Journalism Education Association in 2016. Jeff Rowe, a Long Beach-based journalist, educator and entrepreneur, contributed to the report, which was edited by Cal Press Administrator Joe Wirt.
