What do El Paisano at Rio Hondo College and the Mount Shasta Herald have in common?

They are both first out of the gate with entries in the 2019 California Journalism Awards in the Campus and Print contests.

For CNPA’s digital news media and print members, there is also a Digital Contest, now in its second year.

Deadline for entries is Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, but don’t wait until the last minute – follow The Herald’s and El Paisano’s example and start uploading your best work from 2019 to the contest website.

Entry packages with rules, categories and instructions are available online for the three contests:

Printed entry packages were mailed to CNPA member publications in November.

CNPA will honor the winners at the California Journalism Awards Gala on Saturday, May 16, 2020, in Long Beach. We’ll publish more details about the event in the coming weeks.

If you have questions about the contest or need help registering, contact contest administrator Simon Birch, 916-288-6010.
